At the time, in my first year at UCT Radio, I was questioning on how I wanted to be as a man, then came myself questioning my identity as a person. After realizing both were intertwined after regretting the way I behaved with a woman I liked at the time, I wanted to improve.
Around the last six months of 2020, I had been watching the We Are Man Enough podcast and roundtable talks with guests including Anderson Silva, which taught showed me an environment I wanted to be in, a safe space to feel vulnerable without being judged for expressing empathy and finding the strengths in embracing how vulnerable you can feel.
In 2020, I was staying at Smuts Hall, an all boys residence located on the upper campus at UCT. It was a wonderful experience getting to host this conversation style with two men (one a fem queer coloured male, another a young man from Uganda far from home). Thank you to both of you for being willing to be that vulnerable and comfortable with being uncomfortable.
