Thank you to the Stepping Stones Single Camera Course program.

All week we were instructed by Marious from Visual Impact Academy, to focus on storytelling through visual imagery and not just focus on a singular shot.

I had a few one minute scripts I wanted to test out in preparation for a one minute film festival and for practicing the foundations of directing.

I approached him and showed him my shotlist, then another page which he looked at and immediately asked if this was my story boarding work as I drew out my direction along with the pre - conditioning I had done with myself as an actor earlier in the year on the Who We Are Series.

We had two hours to play around and Gavi Zietsman let us test out the camera and the studio. I decided to use my cell phone as we had thirty minutes left.

I focused on a triangular scene setup, four actors, one relationship between two characters and all of the story leading up to one final cutaway between both characters to emphasize intimacy via their eyeline.

I saw my shot and took it. The story changed as I had two extra folks willing to act and I got to adapt with that, work under pressure and learnt to be open to collaboration in a short space of time. The best lesson I could have ever received.

This is just a test shoot but it's always good to get practice in and in 2025, there will be plenty of that as I embark upon my next journey, the one I was only to do later on in my life as this is a long term vision, however it's best to put myself through the test now as I have felt regret before about not doing something when I could have and I am not letting that happen again.

Thank you to Stepping Stones, Gavi Zietsman, Cast and crew.
